Choosing a Cleaning
Professional Can Be Frustrating unless
you know what to
ask and look for.

“People don’t always realize the value of a sound, knowledgeable cleaning professional” says Mr. McIntosh, director of technical services for The Carpet and Rug Institute. “It’s very important to ask the right questions and do the research to save yourself from future headaches”.

Although it may be tempting to base your decision on price alone, it is not advisable.
Consider all aspects of the company to get the full picture.

Perhaps the best way to select a cleaning firm is through references from friends and family. A glowing endorsement can provide piece of mind. The next best thing would be to call the store you purchased the rug, carpet or upholstery from.

Ziegler is highly recommended by the local and surrounding stores, and in many cases have done work for them.

Questions to ask...

Are They Certified?

Many do not invest in educating
themselves in their field.

  • Find out what certifications they hold.
  • A reputable company should require that employees receive training certification from a recognized national organization and participate in continuing education programs.
  • IICRC – Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification is the predominant organization for certification.
  • You could VOID your Warranty if you hire an un-certified cleaner to clean your carpeting.
  • In 2008 Shaw Industries, the largest manufacturer of carpeting will void any warranty on any carpet cleaned by a non certified firm or technician!

Ziegler is an “IICRC Certified Firm”

  • Ziegler trains all technicians and then they are sent to specific courses of study and testing through the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification.
  • In addition to IICRC testing, technicians also attend ASCR (Association of Specialists in Cleaning and Restoration) courses which tend to be more in depth and much harder to achieve a passing mark.
  • Constant learning of new ideas, problem solving skills, new complex fibers, and new cleaning solutions sets Ziegler apart from most in our region.

How long has the company been in business?
The answer can speak volumes about its reputation and experience.
There are assurances that come with doing business with an established company.
In the case of a cleaning firm that enters a client’s home, it is largely based on trust that things will be done right the first time. If there is a problem, they trust that it will be taken care of promptly and professionally.

  • Ziegler has been in business for over 56 years and has a client list of
    15,000 and growing.

Where are they located?
Can you stop by to look at their facility?

Are they properly set up to do Oriental & area rugs?

These are good indicators of a company’s commitment to the industry and ceiling of expertise in rug, carpet and upholstery cleaning.
If they have a place of business, are they local or out of state?

What System of Cleaning Do They Use?

Dry foam, bonnet, shampoo, steam, dry compound? Which is best? The top 3 carpet manufacturers recommend only hot water extraction (steam) is used on their products.

The absorbent pad, bonnet “carbonated cleaners” that have been so popular, now know that their cleaning is inferior to steam cleaning, and are subsequently switching to hot water extraction.

What Process Do The Largest Manufacturers of Carpet Recommend?

The 3 Largest Manufactures all agree that Hot Water Extraction (Steam) is The Best Method for Optimal Soil Removal and Texture Retention.

Shaw Industries, the largest manufacturer of wall to wall floor coverings in the world, insists on only properly trained companies and technicians to perform deep cleaning.

In fact, in 2008 Shaw will void any warranty on any carpeting not cleaned by an IICRC certified firm with certified technicians!

Ziegler brought the very first truck mounted steam cleaning unit to the Danbury area over 40 years ago. Only state of the art equipment will do; and while others run their equipment until it dies, we upgrade our equipment for new and improved versions every 3 to 5 years. Top shelf people using top shelf equipment!
If there was anything better, we would be doing it.

How Do They Charge for Cleaning?

Click once to zoom in.Beware of pricing that seems “too good to be true”.  Be wary of companies that charge by the room, as room sizes vary.  It should not cost the same to clean a closet or small hall as it does to clean a much larger family room.  Charges should be based on the total square feet being cleaned.
Charging by the square foot is the fairest and easiest way to figure out what it will cost. Most ethical companies have set their pricing as a per square foot charge.

Again “too good to be true” pricing could be just that. Never select a cleaning company based on price alone.
A properly trained and knowledgeable professional carpet & rug cleaner is not cheap, but the work they perform and intrinsic piece of mind will make you feel like you didn’t pay enough.

Do They Guarantee Their Work?

  • Do they have a guarantee?
  • What is their guarantee and how long does it last?

After having an uninformed, uneducated, or downright unscrupulous carpet cleaner in your home, the hardest part is getting them back to fix a problem.

At Ziegler:
We want you to be satisfied with our work.
It is our intent to provide service and value worth more than what you paid.
If you are not satisfied with our work we will return to re-clean any areas or spots that may have re-appeared.
This is limited to 30 days from time of the work being performed.
We stand behind our work 100%.
