Ziegler is a quality cleaning firm located in Danbury, CT and is presently owned and operated by Phillip Ziegler.Having worked in the industry for over 26 years, Phillip started working with his father at a young age as did all the Ziegler children.

Founded in 1951 by Gerald and Barbara Ziegler, the company’s primary service was Oriental rug cleaning. In 1952, Gerald purchased large rug washing machinery and installed it at 12 Bates place in Danbury. At that time, Ziegler’s was 1 of only 3 rug washing plants in Connecticut.

Today, Ziegler’s offers specialized services for the cleaning, repair and preservation of fine carpets, upholstery, area rugs and Orientals. Custom edge finishing can also be done at our fully equipped carpet workroom where binding, serging and re-fringing are professionally applied to area carpet edges and ends. In 1998, the addition of hard surface stone and tile floor cleaning was well received by our clients as there are a limited number of companies that do such specialized cleaning and restoration. Specializing in the services offered is the basis of our business philosophy. Our founder Jerry Ziegler, wisely warned of trying to do too many things. “Better to do a few things very well than a lot of things poorly,” Jerry would often say, “Do it right or not all”.

Our greatest area of specialization is in Oriental rugs, their care and preservation has always been the core of Ziegler’s. In 2007, Ziegler’s was welcomed into an elite group of professionals after Phillip Ziegler passed the Certified Rug Specialist course. Upon completion, Phillip is 1 of only 60 technicians with the CRS- Certified Rug Specialist status in the United States. The way a cleaner demonstrates their knowledge is by ascertaining certifications in the services they provide. Ziegler is one of the most highly certified cleaning firms in the area and the most specialized.

Phillip’s wife, Carol works in the office with her daughter Melissa handling the customer service aspects of the business, working the phones, answering customer’s questions, and scheduling jobs. Phillip’s step-son Tom Straub is avidly learning the trade and close to achieving his own CRS certification. Tom is the plant manager and his work focuses on the washing of Orientals as well as the oversight of the edge finishing department. In addition Tom is a certified carpet & upholstery cleaning technician who performs on location cleaning with our trucks. Jake Lindsey, Melissa’s husband, is a certified cleaning technician specifically trained in the stone and tile cleaning aspects of the firm; as well as carpet and upholstery. Bruno Alves, who also performs on location cleaning with our trucks working directly with our customers, is a certified carpet & upholstery cleaning technician and helps Tom with the washing of rugs when needed.

It is our client’s patronage and satisfaction with services we provide that has allowed Ziegler’s to expand. Jerry Ziegler purchased the very first truck-mounted steam cleaner in the Danbury area more than 35 years ago. Today, Ziegler has 3 truck mounted steam cleaning units and will soon add a fourth to offer more convenient scheduling for our clients. Our cleaning plant has grown in size as well, to handle Fairfield Counties increasing demand for fine oriental and area rug cleaning.

It is our intent to live and work in the Fairfield County area, as long as the reputation bestowed upon us by our clients makes it possible to do just that. We look forward to providing professional cleaning services for generations to come.
